2011 GreenWay Festival Wrap Up

Over the week long festivities hundreds of people attended 20 diverse events which catered to a range of age and interest groups across the corridor.

The GreenWay Festival successfully showcased key altelements of the GreenWay, including local community groups, current GreenWay Sustainability Projects, local history and biodiversity through walking and cycling tours, local artists and galleries, Eco Warrior activities with primary school students, urban bushcare and active transport.

Overall the Festival achieved its objectives of celebrating and promoting the GreenWay by providing the community with opportunities to experience the GreenWay firsthand through a variety of fun and targeted activities.

We would like to extend a big thank you to all the community groups, schools, volunteers, supporters and residents who participated in the 2011 Festival.

The GreenWay Festival was presented by the GreenWay Sustainability Project, a partnership between Ashfield, Leichhardt, Marrickville and Canterbury Councils

Welcome to the GreenWay website!

The GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. It is a bush corridor and a hub for community arts and groups, bushcare, walking and cycling. The GreenWay Community is maintaining a campaign to build an off-road shared path from the Cooks River to Iron Cove.  This trail was to be built as part of the Inner West Light Rail Extension but was deferred by the state government. As an interim measure we have marked out an alternative route to help people travel along the corridor.

This website is a portal to all GreenWay related activities in the catchment. Get involved in the site - register and add community events, send us resource materials, and add comments.  With your feedback we will continue to improve and evolve this site - let us know what you think!
