Biodiversity Events

The Draft GreenWay Biodiversity Strategy is on public exhibition. We welcome comments and feedback on this strategy, which covers all four GreenWay Councils. Currently the Strategy is on exhibition at Canterbury Council and submissions must be received by Monday 15th October 2012. You do not have to be a resident of Canterbury to provide a submission.

The draft GreenWay Biodiversity Strategy provides –

• a framework and action plan for protecting and enhancing biodiversity on both public and private land within the GreenWay Catchment;
• strategic guidance for future plans of management, capital works and operational programs for community land within the GreenWay catchment;
• a mechanism for the realisation of the agreed GreenWay biodiversity objectives;
• increased understanding of biodiversity values of the GreenWay and a greater level of council and community participation in the provision of habitat and the protection and enhancement of biodiversity.

If you make a submission you will be notified when the matter is to be considered by Council. Submissions must contain a name and address, and preferably, phone and  e-mail address. It is important to note that any submissions received may be made publicly available, including via the Canterbury Council website as part of the Council business paper.
