Despite being snubbed by the O'Farrell State Government at the official launch of the Light Rail, local Inner West Mayors have taken to the Light Rail.
The NSW Government 'deferred' the GreenWay shared path in 2012 to ensure that the light rail extension was not delayed by its construction. The light rail extension is due to be opened on schedule in March 2014. With several large residential developments planned or under constuction in the corridor the need for the GreenWay shared path to facilitate active transport is even more urgent. Please consider writing to the Premier and the Minister for Transport in support of the GreenWay. The proforma letters can be emailed or posted directly to them.
The General Manager of Marrickville Council and senior staff joined the GreenWay Place Manager and Coordinator on a tour of the GreenWay to experience first hand how the GreenWay connects people, places, biodiversity and the community.
With the GreenWay alternative route being marked this week (12 June) with stencils and signs why not explore the GreenWay this weekend? It takes about 30 minutes to do the entire route on a bike. If you prefer to walk you could make a day of it stopping at a cafe along the way. A4 maps or A3 maps are available to download and the large interpretative signs scattered along the corridor all have maps on the back of them. Enjoy the GreenWay!
