Welcome to the GreenWay website!


The GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. It is a bush corridor and a hub for community arts and groups, bushcare, walking and cycling. The GreenWay Community is maintaining a campaign to build an off-road shared path from the Cooks River to Iron Cove. This trail was to be built as part of the Inner West Light Rail Extension but was deferred by the state government. As an interim measure we have marked out an alternative route to help people travel along the corridor.  

This website is a portal to all GreenWay related activities in the catchment. Get involved in the site - register and add community events, send us resource materials, and add comments.  With your feedback we will continue to improve and evolve this site - let us know what you think!

Join in the Turkey Weed Hunt this Sunday

Mail Attachment 2In 2011, the GreenWay Bushcare Group held a competition to see who could remove a weed along the GreenWay known as 'Turkey Rhubarb' (Acetosa sagittata) with the biggest bulb attached. The winner on the day was Haberfield stalwart Gordon Hill. Recently, Bushcare volunteer Penelope struck gold when she removed a huge Turkey Weed bulb. If you think you can beat the record why not head along to the next GreenWay Bushcare event which is being held on 6 December 2015 at 9:00 am - 12:00 pm  at Richard Murden Reserve in Haberfield.

GreenWay Art Exhibition at Campsie Library

12208696 10153810416254374 8845433270574952354 n 1Head along and enjoy the fantastic GreenWay Art exhibition which is now open to view at Campsie Library in Amy Street Campsie.  This is the first time the Library has hosted the exhibition which will be open during Library opening hours from November 25 - 9 December.

This year the Art Prize received a record number of entries in the highly popular, annual community arts event that celebrates the precious urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. A total of 140 entries were received and 41 works were selected for exhibition.

Congratulations Art Prize winners

Gauri Torgalkar Urban Haiku Greenway Ink 20x95cmThe winner of the 2015 GreenWay Art Prize is Gauri Torgalkar who has won a $4,500 prize package for her Ink and graphite on Japanese paper work titled Urban Haiku along the GreenWay (pictured).

This year the Art Prize received a record number of entries in the highly popular, annual community arts event that celebrates the precious urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. A total of 140 entries were received and 41 works were selected for exhibition.

The winners of the ArtPrize were announced at the opening night of the GreenWay Art Exhibition, hosted by Art Est. Art School and Gallery, Leichhardt.

The winner of the inaugural Cooks River Small Sculpture Prize of $2,000 sponsored by the Cooks River Alliance was won by the ACAB Collective for a mixed media light sculpture titled Primamateria

The $1,000 Community Art Prize which was open to residents of Ashfield, Canterbury, Leichhardt or Marrickville Councils was won by Laraine Deer for her watercolour and gouache on clayboard titled work titled No Standing.
