Welcome to the GreenWay website!

The GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. It is a bush corridor and a hub for community arts and groups, bushcare, walking and cycling. The GreenWay Community is maintaining a campaign to build an off-road shared path from the Cooks River to Iron Cove. This trail was to be built as part of the Inner West Light Rail Extension but was deferred by the state government. As an interim measure we have marked out an alternative route to help people travel along the corridor.  

This website is a portal to all GreenWay related activities in the catchment. Get involved in the site - register and add community events, send us resource materials, and add comments.  With your feedback we will continue to improve and evolve this site - let us know what you think!

Art the GreenWay - March 9 - 20

Sally Kidall 215Get Lost on the GreenWay when Leichhardt Council hosts Art on the GreenWay as part of the LOST art event. This year the event six environmental artworks will be showcased that have been specially commissioned for exhibition during LOST.


Water Sensitive Urban Design - free workshops

FREE Water Sensitive Urban Design Workshops.  Marrickville Council is partnering with Dulwich Hill Public School to hold three free Water Sensitive Urban Design on your property workshops at the school. Click hereto find out more.

Bushcare events - Sunday 21 February

A reminder that both the IWEG Bandicoot Bushcare group and Ashfield Council Bushcare groups are holding bushcare working bees on Sunday 21 February. If you have some time head along and lend a hand. Have you seen any Bandicoots?

IMG 8598Residents are being asked to help protect an endangered colony of Long-nosed Bandicoots in the inner west as part of a joint project undertaken by the University of Sydney, the Office of the Environment and Heritage and Transport for NSW. 

A six month survey and study is being conducted to collect information about the colony and to raise community awareness about the endangered population. Residents are being asked to look out for the bandicoots or signs of bandicoots and share their information via an online survey and facebook page.
