Welcome to the GreenWay website!

The GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. It is a bush corridor and a hub for community arts and groups, bushcare, walking and cycling. The GreenWay Community is maintaining a campaign to build an off-road shared path from the Cooks River to Iron Cove. This trail was to be built as part of the Inner West Light Rail Extension but was deferred by the state government. As an interim measure we have marked out an alternative route to help people travel along the corridor.  

This website is a portal to all GreenWay related activities in the catchment. Get involved in the site - register and add community events, send us resource materials, and add comments.  With your feedback we will continue to improve and evolve this site - let us know what you think!

Councils commit to GreenWay for at least five years!

GW Council GMs 4 July 2014-1On 18 July the general managers of the four councils along the Greenway signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming financial support for the GreenWay Program for at least the next five years. Until now, the councils have been funding the GreenWay Program on a 12 monthly recurrent basis. An MoU for the councils was recommended in 2012 by the Macquarie University GreenWay Governance project team retained by the State Government funded GreenWay Sustainability Project.

Care for Native Wildlife Course

Sydney Wildlife is a volunteer organisation concerned with the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release of sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife.

If you are at least 18 years old you can train to rescue native wildlife in your local area and/or care for native wildlife in your own home.
You don't need any special qualifications, just a love of animals and a commitment to the protection of native wildlife and their habitat.
Full training is provided. Courses entail 2 full days of training.
The next course is on August 9th & 10th 2014
at Northbndge (near North Sydney). Register now.

National Tree Day Event - 27 July

Nat Tree Plant Day Richard Murden Reserve 28 July 13 51Come along and mark National Tree Day with a special bushcare event being held in Richard Murden Reserve on Sunday 27 July from 9am to 12pm.
Spend a few hours with your hands in the soil caring for and learning about our local plants and environment. New volunteers are especially welcome and no experience is required. Morning tea  will be provided.
