Welcome to the GreenWay website!

The GreenWay is an urban green corridor in Sydney's Inner West. It is a bush corridor and a hub for community arts and groups, bushcare, walking and cycling. The GreenWay Community is maintaining a campaign to build an off-road shared path from the Cooks River to Iron Cove. This trail was to be built as part of the Inner West Light Rail Extension but was deferred by the state government. As an interim measure we have marked out an alternative route to help people travel along the corridor.  

This website is a portal to all GreenWay related activities in the catchment. Get involved in the site - register and add community events, send us resource materials, and add comments.  With your feedback we will continue to improve and evolve this site - let us know what you think!

Lend a hand at Bushcare this Sunday

Sunday 15th March, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon – Waratah Mills

With the warm, moist and humid conditions the weeding emergency work continues at the Waratah Mills bushcare site.  Last month over 10 bags of weeds were collected from the site.  Thanks to everyone who came along to help improve the local environment.

Even if you can only spare half an hour we would love to see you on Sunday.  Entry is from the Waratah Mills unit complex car park (limited visitor car parking available)enter from Davis Street.  The nearest Light rail stop is Waratah Mills.

Everyone is welcome and training is available.  All you need is stout footwear, a hat and sunscreen and some water to drink.  Morning tea is provided.  For more details including how to RSVP please click here.


Bushcare Birdlife event this Sunday

birdOn Sunday Ashfield Council’s GreenWay bushcare volunteers will be hosting the second session of our exposé into Bushcare Birdlife. On the day we will be joined by Mark Fuller from Avianation who will provide the group with a workshop style event during which we will carry out a bird survey on site. Followed by discussion on identification techniques and bird behaviour and ecology within and around the bushcare site.

GreenWay Bushcare on Sunday

Come along on Sunday to Cadigal Reserve in Summer Hill and join our wonderful group of volunteers, spend a few hours with your hands in the soil caring for and learning about our local plants and environment. Bushcare starts at 9.00am and goes to 12.00pm.
Meet next to the car park off Grosvenor Crescent, Summer Hill.  Please wear a long sleeved shirt and long trousers, sturdy closed-in footwear and a hat and some water. All equipment including gloves will be supplied.

Bushcare Working Bee this Sunday

Waratah Mills November pic by SS-1The Inner West Environmental Group is holding their next bandicoot bushcare event on Sunday 15 February from 9.00am to 12.00 noon at the Waratah Mills Buschare Site.  Head on down to lend a hand to improve our local environment.
